Synopsis

Despite her best efforts to modernise her new home, Gwenda soon finds herself caught up in the past. When odd things begin to happen, she develops an irrational sense of terror, leaving her unable to even climb the stairs without feeling petrified. Distraught, Gwenda turns to Jane Marple to exorcise her ghosts. Can they solve a ‘perfect’ crime committed many years ago?

Sleeping Murder chronicles Miss Marple’s final case. Though written before Nemesis (1971) it was not published until after her death in 1976. It was the second of the two novels she had written during the Second World War and it was this one she made over, by deed of gift, to Max Mallowan, her husband. Sleeping Murder represents a fitting finale for Miss Marple.

Sleeping Murder was adapted for television by the BBC in 1987, starring Joan Hickson as Miss Marple and by ITV in 2006 with Geraldine McEwan.
