James Bond (no relation to that James Bond) discovers an emerald in his pocket when he accidentally changes into someone else's trousers. Agatha Christie later used some of the plot and location of this story in her play Afternoon at the Seaside.
This story was first published in a book collection in the UK in 1934 as part of The Listerdale Mystery. It wasn't until 1971 that it was published in the US, in The Golden Ball and Other Stories.
It has never been adapted.
