Fingerprints?

I feel somewhat silly asking...but how does one go about getting fingerprints?

To take prints from surfaces, get a lump of coal from the fuel engine and tap it with a hammer to get coal dust. Combine the coal dust with the kitchen turkey baster. Use the dust-filled baster and the clear tape to get prints. To get prints from the suspects, give them the ink ribbon from the typewriter, some cards, and some paper napkins to wipe their fingers.
