Mystery Man Game 2011 is now over but you can still play along for fun .... And watch this space for more games to come ....
The Mystery Man is back! And more devious than ever...
The Mystery Man (who could also be a woman, it's a mystery after all) has kidnapped eight characters from the stories of Agatha Christie, and has challenged the Christie community to work out who he has taken.
In an email to the official Christie community, the Mystery Man has revealed that beginning Thursday, July 7th 2011, he will allow one character per week the chance to speak.
Their messages will be delivered via Twitter at various times throughout the week and you can receive these messages either by signing-up to Twitter and following @QueenOfCrime, or by visiting www.twitter.com and searching for #agathachristiegame. The messages will also be posted to the Christie community’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/wwwagathachristiecom.
Not sure how to use Twitter and Facebook? Worry not! The keenest detectives from the community will not sleep while the Mystery Man remains at large and will be certain to report the latest messages in the Mystery Man forum soon after they appear, so all you have to do is visit the forum to catch-up on all the latest deliberating and theories. Go to the forum.
Once you think you know who the Mystery Man has kidnapped, open your internet browser (Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox etc) enter their surname at the end of this URL, for example:
www.agathachristie.com/poirot - (make sure you include the forward slash / and don't enter any spaces )
And if you’ve guessed (and spelt) correctly you will free the character from their miserable captivity AND earn the right to gloat about your success back in the forum. If you enter the wrong URL you will simply get an error screen.
But whatever you do, do not name the character in the forum, it will ruin the game for other players! Though feel free to help others along, just don't make it too easy for them. Anyone guilty of making it too easy will find themselves bumped off! (and banned from entering the competition).
Once all eight characters have spoken, you will have all the clues you need to identify the Mystery Man.
To find out if you've guessed right, simply type the surname of the Mystery Man at the end of the URL you've been using throughout the game. Once you've confirmed your guess, email us at christiecompetition@chorion.co.uk with the Mystery Man's true identity, to enter the competition. If you win we will contact you by return email after the closing date.
This year’s prize is every Christie novel currently published by HarperCollins US.
Remember:
1) Follow the game on Twitter or Facebook to get the messages first – or get them later by viewing the forum
2) Discuss who you think has been kidnapped in the forum
3) When you know who it is, do not tell anyone else!
