Shedunnit is a storytelling podcast that unravels the mysteries behind classic detective stories. Host Caroline Crampton uses the novels of Agatha Christie, Dorothy L. Sayers, Ngaio Marsh, Gladys Mitchell, Josephine Tey and other classic mystery writers to evoke the social and literary history of the golden age of detective fiction in the 1920s and 1930s. Tropes like poison pen letters, “the butler did it” and the appearance of crosswords in crime fiction have also featured.
In addition, the podcast looks at the real-life cases that inspired these writers, including the stories of Dr Crippen, Edith Thompson, Florence Maybrick and Julia Wallace.
