Gregor Fisher plays Dexter Dooley

Gregor Fisher is Dexter Dooley. An animated, plump entertainer and ventriloquist. He has thinning hair, a pencil moustache, spiv style and a sallow face. He is late 40s and feels every second of it.

Gregor Fisher is one of television’s most recognisable actors. His television career has spanned 10 series of Rab C Nesbitt, Scotch & Wry, five series of Naked Video, as well as dramas such as Blood Red Roses and The Tales of Para Handy. He played Perks in Carlton TV’s production of The Railway Children to great acclaim and the lead in BBC comedies Brotherly Love and Snoddy. He played Squeers in Company Television’s Nicholas Nickleby, James of the Glens in Kidnapped for BBC and Mr Bumble in the BBC’s six-part adaptation of Oliver Twist and he starred alongside Billy Boyd in Empty for BBC Two. Most recently Gregor appeared in ITV’s drama Tommy Cooper: Not Like That, Like This as Tommy Cooper’s agent Miff Ferrie. His film credits include Another Time, Another Place, 1984, White Mischief, Richard Curtis’ Love Actually, Merchant of Venice with Al Pacino, Lassie, Wild Target and most recently, Whisky Galore. Gregor has won 2 Scottish BAFTA’s; the first in 1989 and again in 2012 for Best Actor for Rab C Nesbitt and the 2008 Rab C. Nesbitt Christmas Special won a Scottish BAFTA in November 2009 for Best Entertainment Programme. Gregor’s biography, The Boy from Nowhere, was published by Harper Collins in 2015.
