Kim Cattrall
Self-confessed Agatha Christie fan Kim Cattrall has had an extensive acting career that spans film, stage and television. The British born actress recently returned to TV in the Sky Arts series Sensitive Skin. On stage Kim has been seen on the West End in Sweet Bird of Youth and Richard Eyre’s Private Lives, which also received a Broadway run. In The Witness for the Prosecution Kim plays the staggeringly wealthy widow Emily French who is beautiful, glamorous and bored. Used to getting exactly what she wants, she glides through the London high-life, indulging in champagne, raucous nightclubs and meaningless affairs with her favourite pastime: younger men.
I’ve always loved Agatha Christie and murder mysteries…Never did I think I would be one of Christie’s victims!
Cattrall grew up immersed in Agatha Christie stories, and
credits the Queen of Crime’s success to being one step ahead of the audience explaining
that Christie, “did something as a writer and a playwright that kept her one
step ahead of her audience. I think if you are one step ahead of your audience
then you’ve got them.” Talking about the new adaptation of
The Witness for the Prosecution Kim says, “We have made it our own whilst at the same time been very
faithful to this amazing writer who has created some terrific parts for women.”
