Sarah Phelps takes on her third Agatha Christie adaptation

In 2017 screenwriter Sarah Phelps’ bold take on Agatha Christie’s timeless stories will hit screens once again, this time with an adaptation based on the novel Ordeal by Innocence. This comes as part of a unique production deal between BBC One and Agatha Christie Productions Ltd that will see seven new Christie adaptations over the next four years.

This will be Sarah’s third re-imagining of Christie’s works following her thrilling takes on Agatha Christie’s The Witness for the Prosecution and And Then There Were None. Talking about why she enjoys adapting Christie’s stories for the screen Sarah says, “I came late to Agatha Christie but I think that works in my favour because I’m shocked by it. I don’t have a childhood familiarity with the stories and so I am acutely aware of the danger, the really unnerving, unsettling qualities.”
