The Witness for the Prosecution nominated for a BAFTA

Agatha Christie’s The Witness for the Prosecution has been nominated for the best mini-series award at this year’s BAFTA TV awards. The two-part drama which aired on BBC One over the 2016 Christmas period is up against The Hollow Crown: The Wars of the Roses, National Treasure and The Secret. The award ceremony will take place on the 14^th May when the winner will be announced.

The adaptation, based on Agatha Christie’s short story of the same title, was written by Sarah Phelps (And Then There Were None, Casual Vacancy), directed by Julian Jarrold (Kinky Boots, Becoming Jane) and produced by Colin Wratten (The Musketeers, One of Us). Described by The Guardian as ‘a dark and nasty story, utterly watchable throughout’, the drama was one of the Christmas TV highlights in the UK. It later aired on Acorn TV in the US.

The illustrious cast of The Witness for the Prosecution includes Kim Cattrall as Emily French, Toby Jones as John Mayhew, Andrea Riseborough as Romaine Vole, Billy Howle as Leonard Vole, Monica Dolan as Janet McIntyre and David Haig as Sir Charles Carter.
