Eleanor Tomlinson
This will be Eleanor’s second role in an Agatha Christie adaptation, following her role as Alice in ITV’s Poirot in The Labour of Hercules in 2013. In Ordeal by Innocence she takes on the role of Mary Durrant, the first adopted child of Leo and Rachel Argyll. Neurotic yet poised, she is the picture of tension. Mary channels the spirit of her mother, a substitute for the attention she desperately craves from her.
Eleanor is best known for her leading role as Demelza in the BAFTA award-winning adaptation of Winston Graham’s Poldark where she stars opposite Aidan Turner. Eleanor’s film credits include Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland and the 2008 hit teenage comedy Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging. This October, Eleanor will be seen in Loving Vincent, the world’s first fully painted feature film, about the final months and mysterious death of artist Vincent Van Gogh. Every one of the 65,000 frames of the film is hand-painted by 115 professional oil-painters. Eleanor will appear alongside Douglas Booth, Helen McCrory, Aidan Turner, Saoirse Ronan and Chris O’Dowd. Eleanor will also star in Wash Westmoreland’s, Colette alongside Keira Knightley and Dominic West.
