Matthew Goode
Matthew Goode plays Philip Durrant, the boorish husband of Mary. A once decorated fighter pilot, Philip lost the use of his legs in a car accident after the war. He suffers the long-term effects of his injuries with the assistance of the morphine needle and the whiskey bottle.
Since making his screen debut in TV movie Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister, Matthew has been making his mark in notable films and popular TV programmes across both sides of the pond. He has starred in the CBS hit drama The Good Wife as Finley Polmar, and in worldwide phenomenon, Downton Abbey as Lady Mary Crawley’s love interest Henry Talbot. In 2005 he starred in an episode of Agatha Christie’s Marple – A Murder is Announced. Most recently Matthew has starred in the History Channel and BBC4 series Roots, and will soon be seen in the second series of the critically acclaimed Netflix series The Crown as Lord Snowden.
His film credits include major roles in The Imitation Game, A Single Man, Stoker, Watchmen and Leap Year, as well as The Sense of an Ending, Allied and Self/less.
