Rita Tushingham

Born in Liverpool, Rita Tushingham is most famous for starring in the critically acclaimed film production of Shelagh Delaney's A Taste of Honey, gaining a BAFTA nod and Best Actress award at the Cannes Film Festival in the process. This was followed by a Golden Globe Award as Most Promising Newcomer for her star turn in The Knack …and How to Get It. She has since starred in more than forty-five films including classics like Girl with Green Eyes; The Leather Boys; Doctor Zhivago and The 'Human' Factor. Her other accolades include three Variety Club awards including Best Actress as well as BBC Personality of the Year, and, in 2003, Rita received a Scouseology award for Lifetime Achievement from the City of Liverpool.
