Jarrold wins award for Agatha Christie adaptation

Julian Jarrold News

Last night at the Royal Television Society Craft & Design Awards Julian Jarrold won the Director of a drama award for his work on Agatha Christie’s The Witness for the Prosecution. Julian Jarrold directed the powerful two-part miniseries, which was described as “utterly watchable throughout” by The Guardian. The RTS Craft & Design Awards recognise the huge variety of skills and processes involved in programme production.

Based on Agatha Christie’s 1925 short story of the same title, Sarah Phelps (And Then There Were None, Casual Vacancy) wrote the screenplay, and Colin Wratten (The Musketeers, One of Us) produced the programme, which first aired on BBC One in December 2016. The stellar cast includes Kim Cattrall, Toby Jones, Andrea Riseborough, Billy Howle, Monica Dolan, David Haig and Hayley Carmichael.
