French television series Les Petits Meurtres d’Agatha Christie has been entertaining audiences since it first aired in 2009. The popular show provides a colourful mix of comedy and crime, with plots cleverly inspired by Agatha Christie’s novels and unique new characters. The first series, set in the 1930s, follows police chief Jean Larosière as he conducts investigations with his shy and clumsy deputy, Inspector Emile Lampion. Fast forward twenty years to the glamorous atmosphere of the 1950s for the second series where Commissioner Swan Laurence takes over, accompanied by the ever-curious journalist, Alice Avril, and his trusty secretary Marlène. In 2017, the show was voted the most popular series in France by readers of the country’s most read television publication, TV Magazine.

This December France 2 presents a Christmas special of Les Petits Meurtres d’Agatha Christie, airing on 22^nd December 2017.

A Father Christmas is murdered one night at a Christmas market. Six year old Louison witnesses the murder while running away from the orphanage where she lives with her brother, and her life is now in danger. Despite his aversion to children, Commissaire Laurence becomes their bodyguard, and his secretary Marlène delights at playing mother. The solution to the mystery appears to centre around Louison’s strange orphanage, an institution well known to journalist Alice Avril, who spent her childhood there.
