More about this story
A lovely young woman dies after being poisoned at dinner. But everyone else was also taken ill, so was she really the intended victim. Dolly Bantry tells the story of the case and Miss Marple thinks she knows the solution.
Agatha Christie went back to one of her favourite murder methods in this story originally published in 1930 in The Story-Teller magazine. It was included in the first Miss Marple short story collection as one of The Thirteen Problems and elements of the story were woven into an adaptation of The Secret of Chimneys as part of the series Agatha Christie's Marple, starring Julia McKenzie.
